How to Reverse Your Biological Age

As life goes on, the dreaded question, “How old are you?” becomes more and more daunting.

When you answer this question, you respond with your chronological age (the number of years you’ve been on this earth). Unfortunately, this number cannot be reversed.

Biological age, on the other hand, is another story. This is how old your body appears to be, and thankfully, you can age in reverse–biologically.

Biological age determines how your hormones, brain, organs, and muscles work, as well as how much damage your cells have experienced. This is actually a better determinant of longevity than your chronological age.

Depending on how you take care of your body, you can either be 30 years old chronologically with a 50-year old biological age by neglecting your health, or the other way around. But how exactly can you reverse this? Continue reading to find out.

Controlling your stress levels

You are never too old to start reversing your age. Modern-day research and technology makes this possible for everyone (our 76-year old Dr. John can vouch for this). The first step to a younger you requires managing your stress levels.

We know you’ve heard this before, but it’s absolutely critical to your overall health. One of the best ways to view the toll that stress takes on the body is to compare photos of our presidents before and after entering the office.

Stress ages you because it increases free radicals, which are compounds that cause inflammation and destroy your cells. It also produces cortisol, which eats away at your muscle tissue, shutting down your executive brain function and metabolism. When this happens chronically, it speeds up the aging of your cells and increases your biological age.

Thankfully, managing stress can be fairly simple. Some of the best ways to help your body relax include deeper sleep, meditation, sensory deprivation, the proper diet, and deep breathing techniques.

Enhancing your mitochondria

If there’s one thing you remember from biology class, it’s likely that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. They are responsible for providing the energy necessary for all of your bodily functions.

As you age, your mitochondria slow down and produce less energy, resulting in a decrease in brain function and muscle mass. Thankfully, it is possible to boost their energy with Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF).

PEMF is a scientifically proven healing method that uses a gentle electromagnetic pulse to charge your cells. This helps reverse your biological age by giving your mitochondria the same energy it once had when you were chronologically younger, thereby allowing your organs to function better and increasing your overall health.

Ridding of cell waste

As your cells function, they get rid of any parts that are damaged or old and regenerate with newer, better versions. This process is called autophagy, and it is one of the best methods of aging well.

Unfortunately, as you grow older, the autophagy process begins to slow, causing you to age significantly.

Not only does PEMF enhance your mitochondria, but it is also extremely helpful in triggering autophagy. This unique form of therapy allows your body to rid of cellular waste and regenerate newer, healthier cells–reversing your biological age.

While it may sound intimidating, PEMF is painless and scientifically proven to help you reverse your biological age. To learn more about its benefits, click here, or request an appointment with Independence Wellness & Pulse Center!
